The above totals 73 nations out of 192 in the United Nations; that is, 38 percent of the world’s countries.

If NATO succeeds in signing collective partnerships with the 54-nation African Union and the ten-nation Association of Southeast Asian Nations – a process that is underway – the U.S.-led military bloc will consist of 138 members and partners, over two-thirds of the nations in the world.

Anti-fascist protesters were set to fill the streets of Greece’s capital, Athens, on Saturday of this week in an enormous demonstration against Golden Dawn.

This fascist party has rapidly become the third party in Greece, with 18 MPs in parliament and a strong showing in the polls.

Its logo is closely modelled on the Nazi swastika, and its members have led violent attacks on migrant workers and the left.

“There have been many attacks—hundreds of migrant workers have been injured,” Javied Aslam, president of the Union of Immigrant Workers and chair of the Pakistani Community of Greece, told Socialist Worker.

March 5, 2013 – TASMANIA– Tasmanian police and firefighters are unable to explain the source of a beam of light which reportedly fell from the sky and formed a circle of fire in a Hobart suburb. Early Saturday morning police and fire crews received calls from concerned residents in Carnegie Street at Claremont, who reported seeing a bright light igniting a fire in a nearby paddock. Tasmania Fire Service officer Scott Vinen says the blaze was quickly put out, leaving an obvious burnt patch. He says the bizarre incident has everyone baffled. “Once we put the fire out, we kind of walked through the fire and tried to find something,” he said. “We thought a flare or something may have landed there, but we couldn’t find any cause.” The Fire Service says it will not investigate further. –ABC.net
